Preparing for Kindergarten: What Really Matters

Every spring, families ask the same question: is my child ready for kindergarten? The answer almost always is β€” yes. But the readiness that matters most isn't the alphabet song or counting to twenty.

Kindergarten teachers consistently tell us the children who thrive are the ones who can manage a backpack, put on their own shoes, ask for help, take turns, and bounce back from small frustrations. These are the skills we practise every single day at Park Plaza.

In our preschool room, you'll see children pouring their own water, zipping their own coats, and resolving small conflicts with educator support nearby. We celebrate the wobble β€” because that's where the growth happens.

Academic skills come, and they come quickly when a child feels confident and capable. Our job is to build that foundation, one small win at a time.
